I’m a mom who:
- kisses her girls (even though Emilie wipes it off)
- talks WITH her girls – not at them
- shares secrets with her girls
- lets them talk to her about boys and sex (and my head doesn’t explode)
- prays for them constantly
- wants and wishes for them
- listens (REALLY LISTENS) to them
- encourages their ideas (even when they’re a bit wild)
- tells them every day how beautiful they are
- makes time for them
- spends quality time with them
- lets them play their music in the car (I’ve discovered some cool new music)
- apologizes to them when I’m wrong (so important)
- supports them and all teens as being our future and real people trying to figure out this crazy world
- believes they have a place in this world
- is honest with her girls about her feelings
- makes many mistakes (and will make more)
- loves her girls with all her heart
- believes that the woman I am will influence the women they will be
- still calls her girls her “babies” even though they are teenagers
